Description:
KATflow clamp-on flow meters operate using the transit-time method. This method is based on the principle that sound waves move faster with the flow of the fluid than against it. The difference in transit time is directly proportional to the flow velocity of the fluid and, consequently, to the volumetric flow rate. The ultrasonic transducers (sensors) of the flow meter are mounted on the outside surface of the pipe and are used to generate and receive the pulses. The time differences created by the ultrasonic signals in the flowing fluid are evaluated by the flow meter to obtain an accurate flow measurement. The improved electronic circuits of the flow meter adapt to and compensate for changes in ambient temperature and flow profile, ensuring reliable measurements. The KATflow 170 is a fixed-type clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter designed for non-intrusive and non-invasive flow measurements of liquids and liquefied gases in fully filled pipes. It can be supplied with one or two measurement channels, allowing the flow meter to monitor up to two separate pipes simultaneously. Alternatively, a dual-channel configuration can be used for two-way sensor mounting on a single pipe. Additionally, the KATflow 170 offers optional features for process input, output, and serial connection, including concentration measurement and temperature-compensated flow measurement. These features are complemented by an optional internal data logger and software for recording and downloading measured values. The intuitive device menu allows for setup and accurate sensor mounting in minutes with the Installation Wizard and Voice Sensor Positioning Assistant TM. The flow meter is suitable for use in Zones 1 and 2, and is programmed with a magnetic pen for secure use in hazardous areas.
