DMTFC Ultrasonic Flowmeter

The DMTF Series Insertion Transit Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter provides robust capabilities for accurate liquid flow measurement from the outside of a pipe. This ultrasonic transmission/reception, digital signal processing, and transit time measurement utilize state-of-the-art technologies. Specialized signal quality monitoring and self-adaptive technologies ensure the system optimally adjusts to different pipe materials automatically. Due to the hot-mounted insertion transducers, there are no ultrasonic coupling and connection issues; even though the transducers are placed on the pipe wall, they do not create any disturbance or pressure drop in the flow, making them non-intrusive. The insertion (wet) type offers advantages in long-term stability and better accuracy.

DMTFC Ultrasonic Flowmeter Specifications

The DMTF Series Insertion Transit Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter provides robust capabilities for accurate liquid flow measurement from the outside of a pipe. This ultrasonic transmission/reception, digital signal processing, and transit time measurement utilize state-of-the-art technologies. Specialized signal quality monitoring and self-adaptive technologies ensure the system optimally adjusts to different pipe materials automatically. The insertion (wet) type offers advantages in long-term stability and better accuracy.

Applications:

  • Water, hot water, chilled water, city water, seawater, etc.
  • Secondary sewage, wastewater treatment, etc.
  • Oil, diesel, fuel oil, lubrication oil, etc.
  • Beverages, food, and pharmaceutical processing
  • HVAC, energy measurement systems, etc.

Measurement Principle

The DMTF transit time flowmeter uses ultrasonic transmitters and receivers, utilizing two transducers. The transducers are clamped to the outside of a closed pipe at a specific distance apart. When mounted, the transducers can be oriented in various configurations: ultrasonic waves may pass through the pipe four times (Z-method), or twice (V-method), or just once if the pipe edges are mounted accordingly. The mounting method is selected based on pipe and liquid characteristics. During operation, the flowmeter transmits ultrasonic signals with both transducers, receiving amplified signals first in the downstream direction and then in the upstream direction (Figure 1). Due to the faster upstream flow, the time difference (Δt) will occur. When there is no flow, the time difference (Δt) is zero. Thus, knowing the time difference for both upstream and downstream directions, flow speed (V) and flow volume (Q) can be calculated using the following formula:

  • V = K * D * t △
  • V: Liquid velocity
  • K: Constant
  • D: Distance between the two transducers
  • Δt: Time difference of flight

Serisi DMTFC Ekleme

The DMTF Series Insertion Transit Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter provides extensive capabilities for accurate liquid flow measurement from outside the pipe. It uses state-of-the-art ultrasonic transmission technologies/receivers, digital signal processing, and transit time measurement. Patented signal quality monitoring and self-adaptive technologies ensure the system automatically adjusts to different pipe materials at optimal levels. Due to the hot-mounted insertion transducers, there are no ultrasonic coupling and connection issues; even when the transducers are placed on the pipe wall, they do not create any disturbance or pressure drop in the flow, making them non-intrusive. The insertion (wet) type has the advantage of long-term stability and better accuracy.

Measurement Principle

The DMTF transit time flowmeter uses ultrasonic transmitters and receivers, employing two transducers that function together. The transducers are clamped to the outside of a closed pipe at a specific distance apart. The transducers can be mounted in different orientations: V-Method: Ultrasonic waves pass through the pipe twice. Z-Method: Ultrasonic waves pass through the pipe four times. W-Method: Ultrasonic waves pass through the pipe only once, with the pipe edges being part of the measurement. The choice of mounting method depends on the pipe and liquid characteristics. During operation, the flowmeter transmits ultrasonic signals with both transducers and first receives amplified signals in the downstream direction and then in the upstream direction (see Figure 1). Due to the faster flow in the upstream direction, there will be a time difference (Δt) in the flight time. When there is no flow, the time difference (Δt) is zero. Therefore, by knowing the flight times in both directions, we can calculate the flow speed (V) and flow volume (Q) using the following formula: V = K * D * Δt V: Liquid velocity K: Constant D: Distance between the two transducers Δt: Time difference of flight
